What is Interlaken?

Interlaken is a scalable chip-to-chip interconnect protocol.  It is designed to enable transmission speeds from 10Gbps to 150Gbps and beyond.  It uses the best of existing protocols and operates over the currently existing serial link technologies.  It features a flexible protocol layer which provides a scalable solution that can be used throughout an entire system.

Interlaken builds on the channelization and per channel flow control features of SPI-4.2, while reducing the number of integrated circuit I/O pins by using high speed SerDes technology. Bundles of serial links create a logical connection between components with multiple channels, backpressure capability, and data-integrity protection to boost the performance of communications equipment.  Using a serial interface dramatically lowers the pin requirement for the chip-to-chip interface.

Using Rockfish Technology’s Optimized Interlaken Protocol IP, which is fully compliant with the Interlaken Protocol Specification, will allow you to optimize time to market and design costs while providing a robust design.
